An Overview

If you're wondering what body wrapping is and how it works this is the page for you. We're going to explore common body wrapping techniques and clear up some possible misconceptions you may have about body wrapping as well as how it works. By the end of this page you should have a good general feel of the body wrapping process and what it can do for you.

Body wrapping was introduced to American's in the 1970's and popularized in the following decades by salons and beauty shops claiming health benefits and easy weight loss. However the history of body wrapping may hold it's origins with the early Egyptians, who used it to guard against the ravages of their arid climate.

There's two types of body wraps including an inch loss body wrap, and a detoxification body wrap. The inch loss body wraps primary purpose is to help you shed water weight for a quick slimming effect. The detoxification body wrap is meant to detoxify your body and help you rid yourself of the toxins you build up and store in your body.

Body wrapping can be done at home as well as at a commercial spa, and can be a fun way to spend an afternoon or early evening. The process of body wrapping only takes an hour or so and is one of the very best ways to relax and pamper yourself.

The Process

1. You start by preparing your body wrapping solution. You'll generally boil about a half gallon of water and add various natural soothing ingredients each serving a special purpose.
2. Once you've prepared the solution you'll want to soak your wrapping in it, (wrapping can be anything from an Ace bandage to a pair of thermal type long underwear or strips of old sheets.)
3. Next you strip bare except for your underpants and put on the wrapping with the solution soaked into it, checking it first to be sure it's not so hot that it will burn your skin.
4. After you're all wrapped up you can just relax and enjoy the process.
5. Leave the wrapping on for 30 min. to an hour depending on what the recipe calls for.
6. Unwind the wrappings, and get cleaned up with a quick shower.

As you can see there's not really that much to a body wrap but if you can find a good recipe it can make all the difference in the world. Some women claim that they can lose from 5-20 inches with an inch loss body wrap but the losses are only temporary.
